CFDA Awards 2022
The Oscars of Fashion
Founded more than 40 years ago, the CFDA Awards is an event organized by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. It is one of the most prestigious events of the calendar year in American fashion, often referred to as ‘The Oscars of Fashion.’ It has become tradition for participating designers to partner with celebrity “dates” for the evening, who they dress for the occasion and walk the carpet as a pair. For the celebrity dates, they are enticed by the opportunity to appear at such a prominent red carpet. And for the designers, the event offers potential for wide scale visibility as well as social and press coverage.
Finding the perfect dates
In 2022, ITB worked with participating clients Sarah Flint and Bach Mai to organically secure celebrity dates for the evening. We paired CFDA member Sarah Flint with Award Winning Actress Rachel Brosnahan, who had a relationship with the brand after wearing her shoes to the CNN Heroes Gala and commenting about how comfortable they are. And for Bach Mai, nominee for Emerging Designer of the Year, we paired with emerging starlet Minnie Mills, star of the hit YA show The Summer I Turned Pretty, who had worn Bach Mai on all of her major red carpet events to date.
Getting the snaps of the evening
In addition to creating the designer + talent pairings, ITB added value by organizing content shoots at local hotels, to be used for the designers’ social media as well as behind-the-scenes editorial coverage in The Hollywood Reporter (Sarah Flint + Rachel Brosnahan) and Teen Vogue (Bach Mai + Minnie Mills).
